MTR – Roll Out September 18th

THE 9th ANNUAL MUSIC THERAPY RIDE TO ROLL OUT ON SEPTEMBER 18th

The 9th annual Music Therapy Ride will take place on September 18th, 2010.  All motorcycles and cars will roll out from the River Rock Casino and Resort at 9:30am. REGISTRATION STARTS @ 8:00 AM

Established by members of the Vancouver music industry, with representatives from record labels, radio stations, booking agencies, talent managers, concert promoters and recording artists, the Music Therapy Ride has now broadened its reach to all motorcycle enthusiasts.

As a result of this annual ride from Vancouver to Whistler, the Music Therapy Ride has raised over $350,000 for the Music Therapy Trust Fund.  In 2010, engines will rev even louder.  In addition to aiding Music Therapists and Music Therapy programs, the Music Therapy Ride committee is building a recording studio at BC Children’s Hospital and two mobile recording studios to service the general community.  The mobile studios – operating under the name “Band Wagon 1” and “Band Wagon 2” – will enable Music Therapists to expand their vital work by giving clients the ability to record the music created during their therapy sessions. This music will provide a legacy for their family, friends and community.

Supporters of the Music Therapy Ride include The Vancouver Police Motorcycle Drill Team, who will escort the ride to Whistler; Great Canadian Casinos, who provide breakfast and a departure point from the River Rock Casino and Resort; John Valk BMW Ducati; Carter Motorsports; Trev Deeley Harley Davidson; Urban Wasp; and a host of generous community sponsors.  Celebrity guests have included Colin James, Barenaked Ladies’ Ed Robertson, Jann Arden, Brent Butt and many more.

I heard about this ride through Raine Maida and his wife Chantal Kreviazuk. I am a supporter of both of them. I read up on what the ride raises funds for and what Music Therapy itself did. I wanted to help anyway I could. I live in the USA ( NYC area). I contacted the organization . I was directed to the site where you could make a donation if you are unable to ride… I am huge fan of music. It is like oxygen to me. I have turned to music many times to pull me through a rough time. Though I am in no way like any of the people this will help I was happy to see something like this exist. I wish you luck. and am happy to help out anyway I can..

We attended another great Music Therapy Ride (2010) – the weather could not hold back the fantastic group that joined the Ride. Thank you Patrick, Dunner and all of the great people who organized the Ride. Thank you to the Vancouver Police Motorcycle Drill Team – BEST In the World for a GREAT and SAFE run to Whistler. We look foreward to next years Ride.

This was my second year attending MTR and again it was a fantastic event. The morning breakfast, the VPD escort, and the main event at the GLC. If there is only one charity ride I attend every year this is it! I encourage everyone thinking about joining the ride to join it.
