Ever wondered what it’s like to ride your motorcycle through the streets of Vancouver without stopping, under full police escort? Watch as the Vancouver Police Motorcycle Drill Team weave their magic so that 80 riders can make their way through the streets of Vancouver totally unimpeded.

Nice to see what happens when the cars get out of YOUR way, isn’t it? In this year’s ride, 80 riders raised more than $65,000.00 for Music Therapy in BC. And what a great way to do it…

Music benefits many across Vancouver

September 17′s Music Therapy Ride attracted 80 participants and raised $65,000.00. The money raised will create a second Bandwagon.

Vancouver, BC ~ The Music Therapy Ride Committee is honoured to announce that the 10th annual Music Therapy Ride was the most successful ride to date, raising over $65,000.  The Music Therapy Ride took place on Saturday, September 17 and, despite the challenging start to the day due to less than ideal weather, over eighty passengers and riders rolled out for a great cause.

The proceeds of this year’s ride will go to the creation of Bandwagon 2 – the first mobile recording unit to tour the lower mainland.  Bandwagon 2, a follow up to Bandwagon 1 (which is situated at BC Children’s Hospital), will bring music therapy services to institutions such as hospices, extended care residences, autism clinics and rehabilitation facilities.

The Music Therapy Ride Committee would like to thank The Vancouver Police Motorcycle Drill Team for ten years of incredible support.  In addition, the committee would like to thank Colin James, Grammy Award-winning producer Chin Injeti, Variety – The Children’s Charity, The River Rock Casino Resort, Garibaldi Lift Co, the local music industry, extensive media partners and the motorcycle community.

As a result of ten years of dedication, support and generosity, the Music Therapy Ride has now raised over $500,000 for the Canadian Music Therapy Trust Fund.

When he was asked to take part in the 10th Annual Music Therapy Ride, this Saturday, Sept. 17 he told me it was “a no-brainer.” On Saturday, James will don his leathers and rev up a Dakota Monster motorcycle and ride for sick children and teens.

3:30 to 4:00pm:
Riders are free to go to return to Vancouver or stay in Whistler for the evening.

The Vancouver Police Motorcycle Drill Team, who have escorted us on previous Music Therapy Ride events, will also be stopping traffic and keeping the 100+ motorcycles safe for the ride this year with a full Presidential Escort.  VPD have announced the route, so you can invite friends and loved ones to check out the ride as we move through their neighbourhood.

We typically leave the River Rock Casino in Richmond at approximately 9:30AM.  The best place for viewing the ride within Vancouver will be along Granville St. from 41st Ave. to 16th Ave. between about 9:40-9:55AM, crossing the Burrard Bridge shortly after that between 9:50-10:15AM, and along Georgia St. from Burrard to the Lions Gate Bridge from about 10:05-10:25AM.  We make a fuel stop in Squamish en route and typically arrive at the Garibaldi Lift Company in Whistler Village between 1:00-2:00PM.
